About our mailing lists
Our specialist mailing list services have been developed over almost three decades of involvement in African studies publishing, and the African book world. Over the years the lists have been used by many prominent publishers and NGOs, many of them repeatedly.
During the course of 2005 our mailing list services have been subject to a full review and a substantial face lift. We regret we can no longer offer lists of individual African studies scholars. However, while dropping the lists of individual Africanists, we have been busy developing a range of entirely new mailing lists, while existing lists have been updated and expanded.
Most of the new lists have been compiled in conjunction with extensive research and listings in the forthcoming new 4th (2006) edition of
The African Studies Companion: A Guide to Information Sources published both in print and online formats. This has ensured that information is as up-to-date as possible, and has been fully verified in terms of accuracy and currency.
New lists
Among new lists are:
- Key Africana libraries list - North America
This is a meticulously researched new list of purchasers of the 3rd and earlier editions of
The African Studies Companion, as identified via registration to the electronic edition, via OCLC's WorldCat listings, and/or via library online catalogues. All are addressed to the individual contacts identified to be the main selector for African studies material.
- Centres of African studies and African studies programmes worldwide
A comprehensive and up-to-date list covering centres and institutes of African studies, and those offering African studies programmes and courses, in all parts of the world. In the US it also includes the leading Africana and African American/Black studies programmes. Addressed individually by name of current Chair, Director, or Coordinator.
- The African press and African news agencies
The continent's leading daily and weekly newspapers, with all information and contacts fully verified, and addressed individually by name of Editor or Managing Editor (or News Editor where available).
- African and international organizations, research and policy institutions, networks, and advocacy bodies
The major African and international organizations, research and policy institutions, networks, consortiums, and advocacy bodies active in Africa, and/or supporting African-studies related research, worldwide. Addressed individually by name of current Director/Executive Director, or Executive Secretary.

We do not operate like a conventional mailing list rental company or list broker and, for this reason, we are unable to offer services such as lists in electronic formats, and we can only supply lists as self-adhesive labels.
